Introduction to Agility

Ready to Have Some Fun With Your Dog?

Have you ever watched an agility competition and thought, “My dog would love that!”? Our Introduction to Agility class is the perfect place to start!

Agility is a fun, active sport that allows you and your dog to work together as a team while navigating obstacles, learning new skills, and building confidence. You don't need to have any previous agility experience—just bring your willingness to learn and have fun!

What Will We Learn?

Our Introduction to Agility class is designed to introduce you and your dog to the foundations of the sport in a fun and supportive environment.

Depending on your dog's individual experience and comfort level, we may introduce:

· Agility tunnels

· Jumps

· Teeter

· Weave poles

· Agility-specific handling skills

· Focus and attention around distractions

· Working as a team with your dog

· Building confidence and enthusiasm

You'll learn how to communicate with your dog and begin developing the skills needed to navigate an agility course together.

Who Is This Class For?

This class is for beginners!

Whether you've never tried agility before or you've played around with a few obstacles at home, this class is a great way to learn the basics.

Agility can be enjoyed by dogs of many different breeds, sizes, and ages. We will work at a pace appropriate for the dogs in the class, with an emphasis on safety, confidence, and fun.

Before You Register

Dogs should have a good foundation in basic obedience and be comfortable working around other dogs and people.

Because agility involves running, jumping, climbing, and other physical activity, dogs should be physically fit enough to participate. If you have questions about whether agility is appropriate for your dog, please contact us before registering.

More Than Just a Dog Sport

Agility isn't just about getting through the obstacles—it's about building a stronger relationship with your dog.

You'll learn to recognize your dog's body language, improve your communication, and discover how much you can accomplish together. Many dogs gain confidence and enthusiasm as they learn to tackle new challenges.

And, most importantly, it's fun!

What to Bring

Please bring:

  • Your dog's regular training treats
  • A favorite toy, if your dog is toy-motivated
  • A properly fitted collar or harness
  • A standard leash
  • Plenty  of enthusiasm!

For safety, dogs should arrive on leash and remain leashed when they are not working.

Where We Train

Classes are held at the Clarksville Kennel Club Training Building:

114 Kraft Street, Bldg. D
